The Bread Upma

The bread Upma is a delicious recipe which can be taken as snacks. Your kids will really enjoy eating the bread Upma and will ask for more.

The time taken for cooking is 20 to 30 minutes.

Time taken to prepare the recipe is 10 to 15 minutes.

Servings: 4 persons.

The Ingredients need to prepare the recipe are

Six to eight slices of fresh bread (a day old)

Oil of 4 tablespoon quantity

A pinch of Asafetida.

One fourth teaspoon of Mustard seeds

Half a teaspoon of cumin seeds

One medium sized potato that is cook and diced.

One medium size Onion that is chopped

Turmeric powder of 1/4th teaspoon quantity

Red chili powder of 1/2th teaspoon quantity
One teaspoon of lemon juice.

Two teaspoons of freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Two chopped green chilies.

Preparation Method

First you need to break the bread into small pieces either with or without crust. In a kadai pout the oil and heat it. Then add a pinch of Asafetida to it. Add the mustard and cumin seeds to the mixture. When the cumin seed transforms its color and when the mustard seeds start to crackle, you need to put the onion, stir fry and cook it.

Whilst the onion becomes semi-transparent, include the chopped potatoes ad for two minutes sauté it. Then to the mixture add the bread pieces and turmeric powder. Blend it well and then include the red chili powder and mix it well. Then spray a few drops of water and for two minutes cook it. Then add the lemon juice, coriander leave and green chilies. Toss the mixture and serve up hot.
