Kegler Strikers upset Whiplash No Strikes!! send Kuwait Federation reeling in defeat

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: The eighth week had mixed results in the on-going qualifying round of the 2011 Indian Bowling League (IBL) Tenpin Bowling Tournament but was not enough to affect the current leader board setup as the pacesetting and heavily favored Kuwait Federation Team lost to No Strikes!! but goes unnoticed. Posting the most notable performance of the week were Kegler Strikers who booked an upset win over Whiplash. The Al Qwassem Team on the other hand ended up at the winner’s circle by brushing aside the time masters of the West End Watches Co Team. This Week Mubashar TV interviewed Moustafa Mousawi of the Kuwait Federation Team.


Al Qwassem leap high when they stopped the West End Watch team 2487-2288 and secured their second position for three consecutive weeks in the Championship group while the losers remain on the 1st Position in the Intermediate Group. Top scorers of the victorious team were Ayad Amiri, Fahad Abul, Fahad Rughaib & Yacob Shatti. While bowling for the time masters of West End Watches Co were Ahmad Sultan, Lloyd Fernandes, Mousa Abdullah, Rudolph Castelino & Mudassir Tungekar. The collision of the teams proved to be evenly match in game one with 753-716 in favor of West End Watches Co. winning. Game Two proved to be fatal as Al Qwassem did some fine tuning winding up with with 840-736 thereby winning the 800 plus bonus points. Game 3 proved to everyone the consistency and team support Al Qwassem were the Pinbusters of the week with a 930-799 stopping the time masters and winning the team high series.

The pin breakers of Whiplash showed a lot of promise in game one but again the Kegler Strikers comprising of Aqeel Al Farisy, Ed Mendoza, Jr Sabado & their newly hired gun slinger Joe White managed to hang on to an early lead and eked out a 790-664 victory. With a different quartet coming back for the next game, the Whiplash crew turned the tables on Kegler Strikers by grabbing the upper hand with an 817-793 victory in game two. Whiplash bowlers Aga Cuadrazal, Edwin De Mesa, Rico Baluyot, Aldin Avila & Vernie Villaruel regrouped but were no match for Kegler Strikers in Game three who scored 829-765. Kegler Strikers whose latest secret weapon was Joe White are all set to get into the Championship Group in the coming weeks. Kegler Strikers move one place with their 2412-2246 win over Whiplash.

For Pinpointers their week 8 winning outing also proved fruitful as they jump up two positions in the Greenie Group after giving Street Bowlers a pounding 2265-2132. Pinpointers took the lead in all three games winning the game points and the overall points. The line up for Pinpointers were Alfred Avila, Joe Presenta, Rocky Castil, Rudy Delima & Fe Ferrer. Street Bowler finally dropping off the Intermediate group and setting up camp in the Greenie Group were manned by Amaldo Fernandes, Julian D’Silva, Rakesh Raman, Shirley Castellino, Celine Fernandes, Domnic Jerry Picardo & Floyd Suares.

Petrolink meanwhile inched closer to the Championship Group when they brushed aside the lane masters of Bowling Stones 2483-2216 moving themselves finally into the Intermediate Group. To book this victory, the collective efforts of Farid Gabriel, Abdullah Khalid, Mohammed Ashour & Mohannad Ebrahim helped Petrolink turn back Bowling Stones in game one, two & three 840-752, 814-729 & 829-735.
The supposedly easy outing for Spare Us turned into a rough sailing as the unpredictable iBowl forced them to succumb to a loss 745-750. iBowl sent a strong signal that they disagree with the notion as they gave Spare Us a 728-683 beating in game two of the match. Pin Busters of iBowl were Kamran Shaikh, Ram Iyer, Xavier Mascarenhas, Ramona Soares, Cleona D’Souza & Roy Vaz. Looking for a quick recovery Spare Us came back with full force pushing their way to victory in Game 3 with a 796-769 but lost the overall points to iBowl ending up with a 2224-2247.


Just as everyone in the gallery was expecting the red hot Kuwait Federation Team who was up against No Strikes!! to Fly away in with ease. They found themselves in quick sand and fast sinking. The dynamic duo of 12 year old Anastasius Menezes & 12 year old Joel Fernandes of No Strikes!! proved to the champions they must never underestimate their opponents. No Strikes!!! were victorious in all three games defeating the mighty giants of Kuwait Federation Team with a 2427-2165 pinfalls. Bowling for Kuwait Federation Team were Moustafa Mousawi, Abdulaziz Majed, Abdulsalam Darwish & Mohammed Yousef. Lending a helping hand for No Strikes!! were Nadine Dias, Fatima Sequeira & Ulysses Menezes. Moving No Strikes!! up to the first place in the Greenie Group.

Solo Sorriso (Just Smile) & Fire Fly are two teams battling for a place in the Championship Group. Fire Fly heavily favored due to their lineup composed of seasoned tenpin bowlers. Fire Fly took charge of the situation early by taking the opening game 782-775. Led by their lady bowler Nasha King who rolled a 169 and Nouri Amiri who garnered a 254 score & Abdurahman Swaydeh who pulled in a score of 190 and roped in the first game for Fire Fly. In game two Solo Sorriso came back in full throttle with a 817-750 win against Fire Fly also taking the bonus points for crossing 800. Game 3 was an unpredictable battle between the two teams as Mohammed Al-Rashed of Solo Sorrisso bowled a 227 game and Abdullah Behbehani with a 211. On the side of Fire Fly Nourie Amiri bowled a 236 and Abdurahman Swaydeh with a 256 game. Fire Fly was victorious again but lost the match to Solo Sorriso (Just Smile) as they took the game with a total pinfall of 2431-2376. Moving Solo Sorriso to third place in the Championship group.


Amaya on the other hand improved their position on the Greenie Group. In game one where Amaya scored 770-654 over Alleygators with a big lead of 11 marks. Ahead in points Amaya worked their way to Game two with the help of Rod Llait, Marj Mercado, Blanca Mercado & Lito Mercado again victorious with a 792-689 score. In search of a winning combination, Alleygators bannered by Jason D’Souza, Rohan Fernandes, Samantha Fernandes & Gloyne Fernandes did some last minute adjustments emerged a winner with 811-793 in Game three but lost the overall points to Amaya as they went home with a 2355-2154 victory.

Weekly High Team Series was taken by Al Qwassem with 2487. The Weekly Men’s High game was bowled by Abdurahman Swaydeh from Fire Fly with a 260 game. The Weekly Women’s High Game was pinned by Ramona Soares of iBowl with a score of 238. These Weekly Prizes were sponsored by Amman Bhel Puri Restaurant Salmiya established in 1971.


The matches of the Indian Bowling League are held every Friday at the Salmiya Cozmo Bowling Center at 1.30 pm.
