16 IBL teams to face Judgement Day ! Firefly light up the sky on the way to the Top 4


Kuwait: Al Qwassem, Kuwait Federation Bowlers, Kegler Strikers despite differing results maintained their lead in the Championship Group. Suprisingly the amazing Firefly flew to the top 4 in the Championship Group toppling Solo Sorisso who maintained their position for several weeks. After 15 weeks of play all teams now locked down in three Groups namely the Championship, Intermediate & the Greenie group. Each group will battle amongst themselves to prove supremacy over their group as they are evenly matched up.

In a crucial match, West End Watch Co. managed to pull through an amazing win over No Strikes !!! with a 2320-2144. No Strikes !!! could not recover from the clobbering they got from West End Watches Co. However the win points of West End Watches Co. was not enough to take them to the Championship. Bowling for West End Watches Co. were Ahmad Sultan, Lloyd Fernandes, Mousa Abdullah & Rudolph Castelino.

Moving on to the much awaited game between Firefly & Al Qwassem for their finally round lane action, Firefly wasted no time to unseat Al Qwassem as they grabbed the white jersey by beating the vanquished erstwhile leader 2378-2231. Carrying the scoring load for Firefly in this winning outing were Lee Mills, Nourie Amiri, Abdulrahman Swaydeh who rolled a 224, 212 and 202 respectively. Firefly moved on with game three after mesmerizing Al Qwassem with a 770-744 victory that was made possible by Jassim Darwish (236) & Nouri Amiri (221).

In the penultimate game of the series, everything was falling into place for Solo Sorisso. The Kuwait Federation Bowlers upset a disoriented Solo Sorisso squad with a 2440-2285 victory which resulted in toppling down of Solo Sorisso from the Championship Group. In game one, Solo Sorisso stretched its lead by taking down the mighty Kuwait Federation Bowlers via 733-732 victory by just one pin. The Kuwait Federation Bowlers sensing danger in game two regrouped as they posted their victory of the round 879-734. In game three Federation Bowlers led by Andrew Frawley, Moustafa Mousawi, Paul Delany, Abdul Aziz Majed & Abdulsalam Darwish finally took down the underdogs with a 829-818 victory. Bowling for Solo Sorisso were Abdullah Behbehani, Ibrahim Al Jaddi, Mohammed Al-Rashed & Nawaf Al Hassan.

Meanwhile, Kegler Strikers succeeded in finishing their qualifying round campaign on top of the leader board after booking a 2353-2125 win over the Street Bowlers. Kegler Strikers led by Al Belarmino, Ed Mendoza, Jr Sabado & Joe White, hit a much weakened Street Bowlers team who could no longer hold down the the mighty striking power of the Kegler Strikers who clobbered them in all three games with a 710-652, 831-745 & 812-728 victory securing their place in the championship group. The Pin busters for Street Bowlers were Amaldo Fernandes, Celine Fernandes, Domnic Picardo & Floyd Suares.

Meanwhile, Whiplash brushed aside Amaya with a easy walk in the park victory with a 2307-2041 win. Whiplash nailed down all three games with a 723-660, 786-658 & 798-723 victory leaving Amaya stranded in the Greenie Group. Top Scorer’s for Whiplash were Aga Cuadrazal, Edwin De Mesa, Rico Balyout, Aldin Avila & Vernie Villaruel.

Up against the slumping iBowl, Petrolink was in shock when iBowl posted their game one win with a 725-706 victory. Petrolink then took off without any delay and landed safely with 818-709 pinfall victory in Game two. Looking for their third victory the lane masters of Petrolink manned by Mahdi Boushery, Abdullah Khalid, Mohammed Ashour & Mohannad Ebrahim went on to regain control of the entire game with a 862-702 victory. Bowling for iBowl were Ramona Soares, Cleona D’Souza, Samera Shaikh & Muriel Fernandes.

Going to the final and deciding round of the Indian Bowling League, Bowling Stones bannered by Leandro Rodrigues, Leroy Rodrigues, Ershad Mohammed & Jason Pereira went on to beat the undermanned team of Pinpointers with a 1944-1832 pinfall victory.

Meanwhile the final match up of the week came clear when Alleygators routed Spare Us with a 2258-2248 victory. Alleygators came through with a close win in game one and two with 753-724 & 756-749 pinfalls. While in game three Spare Us bowled their way to victory with a 775-749 but not enough to win the overall. Alleygators headed by Rohan Fernandes, Jason D’Souza, Gloyne Fernandes & Samantha Fernandes.

Weekly High Team Series was taken by Kuwait Federation Bowlers with a total pin fall of 2440. The Weekly Men’s High game was bowled by Andrew Frawley of Kuwait Federation Bowlers with a 278 game. The Weekly Women’s High Game was captured by Marjorie Mercado of Amaya with a score of 226.

The Indian Bowling League Final’s will be held on Friday 16th December, 2011 at the Salmiya Cozmo Bowling Center at 1.30pm with the awarding ceremony to follow thereafter.
