Zestful twin anniversary celebration at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Kuwait Kendra)
Zestful twin anniversary celebration at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Kuwait Kendra)
On the eve of Kuwait’s 50th Independence Day, 20th Liberation Day and the 5th anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's assumption of power, the kindergarten wing of Indian Educational School presented a spontaneous but well organized show. Vice chairperson Mrs. Indu Khandelwal, Principal Mr. T Prem Kumar, Vice Principal Mrs. Shaila Naik and Headmistress Mrs. Lalitha Prem Kumar graced the occasion. Also present were parents to cheer these tiny tots.
The school decorated in the colours of the Kuwait flag was truly a sight to behold. The school auditorium was done up appropriately to create a comfortable and fun filled environ for every child walking in. The whole place was as if veiled in the colours of the Kuwaiti flag. The children were welcomed into the auditorium with foot tapping Arabic numbers and the program began with the chanting of the HOLY QURAN and an ENGLISH PRAYER each recited by 2 kindergarten students themselves. The Kuwait National Anthem was sung with great fervour.
The dance and music show that followed aptly included song and dance sequences in Arabic. Dance numbers were presented by students of the primary wing. Ms. Richa Khandelwal, from the management, put up an impromptu dance performance. The music teachers Ms. Shobha and Ms. Dhaniya presented a soulful rendition of ‘Watani’. The amount of excitement created by these performances was equally matched by the enthusiastic swaying of handmade Kuwait flags by all the kindergarten students present at the venue. Some of them dressed in traditional Arabic attire atop the stage grooved to some more Arabic numbers. They flaunted their cheeks painted in the colours of the Kuwaiti flag too.
The kindergarten wing’s celebration was held intending to educate the tiny tots about the relevance of this grand occasion for our Kuwaiti brethren, Indian expatriates and especially to the children belonging to the Indian Diaspora. The fact that Kuwait is celebrating a month of festivities marking 50 years of Kuwait’s independence, 20 years of Kuwait’s liberation from Iraqi forces and also the 5th Anniversary of His Highness the Amir’s Assumption of Power. The signature skyline of Kuwait that has been lit up lavishly and tastefully, almost muting the effervescence of celestial bodies, flag lined roads , decorations et al appearing on homes, walls, restaurants and palm trees have not gone unnoticed to the child’s eye. Not flamboyant yet electrifying these celebrations have a deeper meaning and this very significance was explained to the tiny tots in an effortlessly lucid manner during the function. As we have always rightly said “KUWAIT IS HOME AWAY FROM HOME†for each one of us. The show ended with a message from our principal congratulating His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and all Kuwaiti citizens as also wishing the country a prosperous future.
