Tahseen Khan Painting Exhibition
At the behest of HE Satish C. Mehta, the honorable ambassador of India to Kuwait, Dr. Tahseen Khan’s work will be featured in an exhibition aptly titled “Be the Change”, at the Bayt Lothan Gallery, where the inauguration is on April 16 at 6 pm, and the display will continue on April 17 and 18.
Tahseen’s passion for life in its varied hues is mirrored in her myriad colors on canvas. Tahseen, with the use of mixed media uses her art as a language when words no longer do justice to describe a spectacular seaside sunset or a bustling South Indian village landscape. It’s an outlet she uses to decompress from the intensity of work as a Pediatrician. It calms her soul and gives meaning to life.
Art is also Tahseen’s call to action, so with just a different twist of her brush, her colors can evoke a burning desire to take a stand on besieging issues that have been swept under the carpet. Her pieces such as “Despite all Odds”, “War and Peace”, “Liberation” and “Give Me a Chance” point towards social disquiet, disasters and gender discrimination; however, there is something in all of them that gives us hope, hope for a better tomorrow, only if we can “Be the Change”.
The exhibition is an initiative in collaboration with the Indian Women’s Association, and will go a long way in providing support to better the plight of the very issues the paintings highlight.
