Family life
The Swiss people comparatively have late marriages. Prior to setting up a family a Swiss adult focuses on his or her training, career. Because of this the Swiss parents are commonly the oldest couple to have their first child.
You can find one or two kids in most of the Swiss families. As per a study conducted in 2004, the normal kids’ number per woman happens to be 1.42, which is low than 1.5, the average children number of the European Union. On the whole, globally, the average number of children per woman is 2.65.
Researches reveal that financial constraints are cited as the main reason for the Swiss parents for confining the size of the family. Large apartment are costly and there is lack of proper child care.
Normally a Swiss man and woman marry at the age of 31 and 28.7 years respectively. At the time of the first childbirth, the average age of a Swiss mother is 29.5 years. Divorcé rate is also quite common and prevails at a rate of 52.6%.
Food
There are several regional dishes in Switzerland. One instance is the Veal’s slender strips along with mushrooms, immersed in cream sauce and is provided with rosti.
Some of the other commonly consumed food items are chocolates, cheese, especially Gruyère, Vacherin, Emmental cheese, and Appenzeller. Raclette and fondue are also the most accepted cheese dishes among the Swiss people.
Rosti is a well-known potato food consumed by a majority of the Swiss people. Some of the conventional Swiss foods include quiches and Tarts. The Tarts are mainly prepared with all types of toppings like onion, sweet apple, etc.
Dress
The Swiss people wear dresses similar to the one worn by people in the US and other western nations. They don’t have any particular individual dress code. They wear clothes akin to the western world.
Sports
Some of the most popular sports in Switzerland are Ice Hockey, mountaineering, skiing, foot ball, beach football, rugby etc. The country ahs the credit of conducting the St. Mortiz winter Olympics in 1928 & 1948, and most recently organized 2008UEFA Euro.
