SRK’s ‘Don 2’ smashes the abroad record of Salman’s ‘Bodyguard’

A whopping Rupees 15.3 crores was earned by Shahrukhs’ Don 2- The king is back ’film, on the very first day of its screening. The film opened on a weekday, i.e. Friday, which is indeed a record. It collected the enormous amount on a non-holiday. ‘Don 2’ went on to scale new heights in collection, by amassing an Rs 45 crores in week end.

‘Don2’ is a sequel to the 2006 Farhan Akthar’s film 'Don’, which is a remake of the 1978 Amitabh bachaan starrer under the same name ‘Don’. SRK’s Don 2 shattered the record as the Hindi film to have maximum single day gross collection in overseas market. In Australia, the film on Friday earned a mindboggling US$82,000. The previous record was held by Salman Khan’s ‘Body guard’, which was produced by Reliance Entertainment. In North America, Don 2 surpassed the first day collection of ‘My name is Khan’ by collecting $445,000, thereby also breaking the record of RA One. In the domestic market, the film is released with 3000 prints and in an additional 550 theatres, it is released as 3D. Apart from Shahrukh, priyanka chopra, Bomman Irani, Kunal kapoor form part of the star cast in ‘Don2’.
