Actress Rekha nominated for Rajya Sabha membership

The Bollywood actress, popular for her awesome onscreen performance in the 1980s will be nominated as Rajya Sabha MP under the constitution provision, which authorizes the President to appoint a total of 12 members to the Rajyasabha.
The Government gave no word on the other two personalities nominated to the Rajya Sabha. A communication has been sent by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the Home Affairs ministry, which has dispatched it to President Pratiba Patil for announcement.
As per the article 80 of the constitution, a person having practical experience or particular knowledge in the field of science, arts, literature, social science and arts.
Actress Rekha, aged 57, apart from being one of the leading heroines in the 80s is also a recipient of many awards during her acting stint. Rajya Sabha already has eminent script writer and Lyricist, Javed Akhtar as member hailing from the film fraternity.
