New crew to ISS to conduct 43 scientific experiments

Moscow, May 24 (IANS/RIA Novosti) The new mission to the International Space Station (ISS) will carry out 43 scientific experiments, Russian federal space agency Roscosmos said in a statement.

 
 A Soyuz-TMA spacecraft with Russian cosmonaut Sergey Volkov, Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and US astronaut Michael Fossum on board would blast off from the Baikonur space centre June 8.
 
 "A total of 43 space experiments in nine areas of research are to be carried out during the mission," Roscomos said.
 
 The areas of research include physical and chemistry processes in space conditions, geophysics, medicine and biology, remote sensing of the Earth, solar system researches, space biotechnologies and engineering.
