It was opened in the year 1985. It has the Mustafa departmental store, which provides largely to the budget market. The departmental store located in the Mustafa center has two shopping centres, one for retailing jewellery, household appliances and have a supermarket. The other one has books, watches, CDs, DVDs, foot wear, clothing and electronic goods. More than 15,000 types of merchandises are sold at Mustafa centre.

From the Farrer Park MRT station on the North East Line, Mustafa centre is situated at a walk able distance. I t is a retail hub having a number of Indian shoppers.
