Some of the prominent tourist spots in Munich are,
Marienplatz: Almost kickstarts their tour in Munich by visiting the Marienplatz, which is the main square in Munich. This centre square also referred by othre names like Our lady’s square, or Mary’s square is functioning as the center square of Munich ever since from 1158.
In the year 1638, a Marian column known as the Mariensäule is erected at the square’ center portion, to commemorate the end of the Swedish occupation.
Englischer Garten: The Englischer Garten or the English Garden is a prominent big public park situated in the hub of Munich. The Garden stretches form the center of the city to as far as to it limits on the northeastern sidestep English Garden is the biggest public park located in Munich and is spread on an area of 3.7 km2(1.4 square miles).A lake is found at the center of the park, where the visitors can ride paddle boats. You can also do surfing on the standing wave. The park also boasts of having a beer garden, with a seating capacity of 2500 seats.
The Dachau Concentration Camp
The Dachau Concentration Camp is Nazi’s first concentration camp. Henrich Himmler constructed the Concentration camp, in the year 1933. The camp was used to house the and later execute them in mass numbers. The camp housed nearly 2, 00,000 prisoners. Subsequent to the “Night of the Broken Glass”, 10,000 Jews were held as prisoners in this concentration .The Dachau Concentration Camp is situated on the outskirts of Munich. Frequent train services are available from Munich to the camp. It takes only a short duration to the camp.
Opening hours
The camp is opened to the public from 9am to 5 pm. However on each Monday the camp remains closed on Mondays.
No admission fees to visit the memorial.
