Kannur District Committee of Kuwait Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre conducted a grand "Mega event and Pride of Kannur 2011” Excellence award night on Friday 16 Dec. 2011 at Marhoom SAYID SHIHAB THANGAL’s nagar (ABBASIYA CENTRAL SCHOOL auditorium) in Kuwait. More than 1000 people attended the historic function of the Kannur KKMCC.

Chief Guest of the Event, H.E. Satish Mehta inaugurated the Event, who spoke about the humanitarian aids and achievements of KKMCC and praised Kannur committee, for honoring 17 expatriate Indian workers. Dr. Ghalib Al-Mashoor, presided the meeting and addressed the audience e with his well versed Arabic, English Malayalam languages and thanked H.E. Satish Mehta, Ahamed Kabeer, MLA, Ansari Thillengeri, Representatives of various Indian Associations and several hundred of KKMCC members for their attendance. H.E. Mehta handed over the KKMCC souvenir to Abdul Mohsen Al-Sadi, CEO of Al-Sadi General Trading & Contracting co., who is also the Kuwaiti agent of Darshana TV., Malabar’s first Malyalee channel.

H.E. Satish Mehta distributed the Pride of Kannur 2011 Excellence awards to A.K. Mahmoud, Abdul Rashid, and Sayed Zoheb (on behalf Advocate Sayid Mohamed Nizar Thangal), while 14 awards were given by T.A. Ahmed Kabeer and Ansari Thillengeri. Key note addresses were given by T.A. Ahamed Kabeer, the visiting Member of Legislative Assembly of Kerala Govt., related to the subject “navajagaranavum and navanirmananvum” (creation of vigil and good works for the benefit of the community) while Ansari Thillengeri delivered the speeches stressing the necessity of strengthening of unity with diversity while preserving all the rights of minority community in India especially in Kerala under the Indian constitution and again, under the leadership of Panakkad SAYED Haiderali shihab Thangal (The president of Indian Union Muslim League). The distinguished guests thanked Dr. Ghalib Al Mashoor, and his team for the success of the mega event in a great form of organizing with the participation of huge crowd.

This is the first time in the history of Kuwait that an expatriate association is honoring the people of Indian origin for their 20 years diligence and stay in Kuwait while abiding laws of the country. Distribution of Excellence awards to 17 members of KKMCC members of Kannur district committee has created a lot of appreciation from various Associations in Kuwait and in India also by their friends and families. The news spread as “Talk of the Town”. The felicitation speeches made by Honorable Chairman Sayid Nasir Al-Mashoor Thangal, Sharafuddin, Basheer Batha and Nazir Khan, included praises for Kannur Committee’s team work, courage that’s running ahead with one step forward while matching with the National committee programs and towards fulfillment of such dream., and added that these types of awards should be model for other associations. T.A. Ahamed Kabeer in his speech said that some people are trying to derail the democratic system of the parliament and insisted to be vigil by the people of secularism. He added that Russia’s communist ideology ended in 1980s and tried to shift the economic ideology to capitalism. Kabeer said that initial ideology empowered by U.S.A. for total globalization theory of 2000 were combined with an outlook for the deep involvement of capitalism , where western countries also joined. However, the present situation is horrifying that they got lot of trouble with the recent down- grading of large U.S. and European corporations and as countries. He added that the continuous calamity of west’s sovereign debt crisis will shortly wind up with the collapse of capitalism. Kabeer reiterated that the only approach to resolve the global economic issue will be Islamic economic ideology as the last resort. A.M. Hassan former correspondent of Chandrika daily spoke also during the event. Ansari Thillengeri enthrilled the audience with his magic words and he insisted to join all the malayalees to KKMCC, and he stressed that KKMCC is the true representative of Malayalees spread all over the 6 Gulf countries and they should take advantage of their various cultural and social activities. A DVD bound documentary film directed by P.A. Mehboob of Ernakulam related to the Biography/ life journey of “Marhoom C.H. Mohammed Koya Saheb “(Former Chief Minister of Kerala) also were released by Kabeer and received by Mustafa Pulpetta (former VP of KKMCC).

K.C. Haider, General Secretary welcomed the guests and KKP Ummer Kutty, Vice President spoke few words about the Pride of Kannur 2011Excellence Awards. Ashraf Mandoor expressed vote of thanks. End of the program was witnessed with the Raffle draw and the prizes were distributed to all the winners.
