Indian Women's Association (IWA) is a leading social, cultural and charitable organization in Qatar under the aegis of Indian Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India. It was established in 1986 by Mrs. Malik, wife of the then Indian Ambassador, together with a small group of dedicated and like-minded ladies. The idea for IWA was conceived following some soul searching and self-introspection by the founders who realized the need and importance of a collective women's forum as a response to the time constraints, pressures and demands on the expatriate Indian Women. Since its modest beginning, IWA has grown to become a widely respected organization in Qatar at the forefront of organizing community events, cultural programmes, competitions, and humanitarian and relief efforts.
