SPECTACULAR SHOW AT IES KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION DAY

Amidst academic and co curricular activities and their hectic schedules, each student, teacher and staff have their eyes focussed on one event – “The Parents Day Programme” in the academic calendar. The Beams of laughter, the tears of sorrow, the hard work, appreciation and criticisms and then the final countdown begins for this most awaited day.

On February 13th and 14th Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan ( Kuwait Kendra) wore a festive look, illuminated with shining faces of kindergarten students of the Indian Educational School, Kuwait and Jack and Jill, Mangaf as the school celebrated the 4th  Graduation Day  Ceremony of their UKG students and Parents Day of LKG students .

The school has always provided a genial, tranquil, secure, natural learning environment- a comfort zone to interact, learn and bloom into sensitised, responsible, disciplined and balanced human beings.  This Consummate process of overall development of a student was manifest as each and every kindergarten student participated in this colossal annual cultural event- “The Parents Day” . To make this possible the show was phased out into two consecutive days giving equal importance to every performer and performance that was staged.  The excited tender minds were geared up for days of teamwork and participation.

Honoured Chief guests for the event were Mrs. Jaya Srinivasan, a proficient mathematician and Mr. Harish K Sharma, Head of Science Department at Universal American School, Kuwait and Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Science and Mathematics, American University of Kuwait .The guests of honour were Mrs. Srikala Dileep, the HOD of  Social Science Department of Indian Educational School and Mrs. Jyothi Fatima, the HOD of French Department of Indian Educational School.

The celebrations began with a prayer and the recital of verses from the Holy Quran by students of the kindergarten wing.  These budding and poised students steered the mega event through the evenings as they compered the show with unabated confidence displaying their oratory skills. These budding talents handled the podium with assertiveness par excellence.

The mammoth event began with the Lighting of the auspicious lamp of knowledge on both days, by the honourable chairman Mr. Ramachandran Menon accompanied by the  Vice chairperson Mrs. Indubala Khandelwal, the chief guests and guests of honour for the evening and Principal Mr. T.Premkumar.

Principal Mr. T.Premkumar, in his address to the gathering emphasized that the school not only offered the best in academics but also encouraged an overall development of the student through various extra curricular activities conducted and taught by talented and capable teachers.

Head mistress Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar presented the annual report expounding her observation reiterating the fact that modern education enveloping the traditional form of education in school not only supplements the learning process but also helps the kindergarteners to extensively acquaint themselves to a growing world ahead. She reiterated the motto of IES where learning is not limited to the classroom and Bhavan’s “ Vision and Mission” is implemented in an environment conducive to a holistic development of every child.

The Chief guests and the guests of honour by their kind and encouraging words made this evening a very special one for the children as well as their parents.

The cultural programme began with a ‘Welcome Dance’ presented by the students of LKG, the music for which was written and composed by their efficient faculty in association with the music department of the school.  A befitting welcome indeed to this august gathering.

Vibrant music, Dance, breathtaking colours and highly coordinated movements promptly set the tone and mood at IES.

The Pre KG students of Jack and Jill, Mangaf left everybody spellbound with their next performance on the very popular number “ Bum Bum Bole”. These dancers are the youngest ones in this school but their moves gave spectators the feel of watching professionals.

The LKG students of IES performed a “Flower Dance” quaintly attired in floral dresses. Its melodious strains spreading in its wake a sheer misty fragrance in the evening air.

Another group of LKG dancers-the “Shining Stars” regaled the audience with their performance on a hip swaying number “ The Tiki Tiki Room”.

A flamboyant LKG troupe followed on the stage to groove to a fusion of Latino Mexican numbers “La Bamba-Las Ketchup”.   Their energetic hop-skip and tap was like a bonfire on a chilly winter evening.

Yet another   untiring entourage of LKG kids gave a power packed performance to the tune of “Rang de chak “complete with bhangra style moves and their ‘balle balle’ truly set the venue rocking.

The “Foot Tappers” of UKG students showed their moves on a peppy number “We’re all in this together” flaunting the true spirit of celebration and festivity.  Later the “Movers and Shakers” of UKG displayed some more expert moves on the happening number “Hoedown Throw down “ . Their energetic booming and clapping coaxed the audience to sway to its lively beats.

The UKG students of Jack and Jill, Mangaf set ablaze the stage with their performance which rekindled the patriotic fervour in our minds. They danced to the tune of “ Rang de basanti” justly portraying India in all its colours. The song originally sung by freedom fighter Bhagat Singh accurately praises the sacrifices of patriots for freedom. It also aptly describes the herald of spring which is synonymous to brighter colours like the colour of the mustard blossom-basanti ie.. saffron which represents courage, sacrifice, patriotism and renunciation. The dancers finally depicted the national symbols of India The Lotus- national flower of India, Tiger- national animal of India, Peacock- national animal of India, the sarnath lion capital of Ashoka- national emblem of India.

The next UKG troupe of Jack and Jill, Mangaf danced to an A R Rehman masterpiece “ Jiya Se Jiya”- a lyrical work of art making friendship an eternal part of our lives. The audience watched these dancers enthralled at their marvellously coordinated choreography.

Two choir groups comprising of UKG students of IES performed live before the audience rendering eternal compositions like “ Gods love-it’s so wonderful” and “ All things bright and beautiful”. These budding singers held the audience in rapt attention.

The recognition, the commendation, the accolades boost one’s morale and confidence tremendously.  To encourage these kindergarteners, winners of the kindergarten athletic meet 2010-2011 held in IES were awarded Medals and certificates during the show.

The cultural extravaganza was interspersed with the most important event of the evening- The Graduation of UKG students to the Primary classes.  They walked the ramp adorned in traditional convocation gowns and caps. Their smiling faces were welcomed by rapturous applause from the audience as they received scrolls of merit on the dias. It was indeed heart warming to see teary eyed parents as they watched their little angels grow into butterflies ready to flit away into the sky yonder.

Bidding adieu to their UKG friends were a group of LKG children of Jack and Jill, Mangaf. Adorned in shining silver these tiny tots gave a befitting farewell to the graduating UKG students.  Unmistakable once again were the moist eyes of parents witnessing this event.

Let’s wish for the graduating students and for the younger lot waiting to don the reputable graduation gown next year-“May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day. May song birds serenade you every step along the way. May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that’s always blue.”
