HRD Minister says that only 5% primary teachers pass the eligibility test.
The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Mr. Kabil Sibil expressed apprehension saying that only 5.5% of the primary teachers passed the 2012 eligibility test.
Responding to the summaries in the Upper house of the Parliment, the Minister also briefed that only six and half percent might qualify the eligibility examination for higher primary classes.
Mr. Sabil said that this only indicates that education of poor quality being conveyed
The minister for human resources also said that focus was required to shift to excellence from entrée in education. He emphasized that the qualifying examination was intended to make sure of the education quality in private schools.
Mr. Sibil also said that Rs.6, 308 crore outlay has been owed in the twelfth plan for setting up the several teachers’ training institutes.
