Fiji Education system
The education system in Fiji comprises of four stages Primary education, Secondary education Vocational education and tertiary education.
Primary education
This stage of education is not mandatory, and it is free of charge for the initial eight years. The Fiji government, religion (Methodist, Catholic, Muslim or Sabha) or provinces administer the preschools and secondary schools. The function of the government is to offer an atmosphere in which the kids understand their complete potential. The primary education is free of cost from six to sixteen years. These institutions are persuaded to expand in communication with the local society, to be innovative and explore the various flickers, igniting a child’s brain.
Secondary education
The high school education persists for a total period of five years. After three year of education the pupils either leave the institution with a Fiji school leaving certificate or stay on to finish their concluding two years and get qualified for tertiary education.
Vocational education
Only a few institutions provide any kind of vocational orientation and the system stays mainly educational and test orientated. The council of Fiji national training offers motivated syllabus to fill and rectify the gap in row with globally acknowledged standards. Some of the courses offered in vocational education are metalwork, carpentry, home economics, agricultural science and woodwork.
Tertiary education
The Fiji polytechnical schools offer training in various apprenticeship and trade courses and other smaller diplomas in hotel catering, engineering and business lessons. The island nation also has several teacher training institutions and other institutions focusing on medicine, agriculture and technology.
The higher education is provided at technical institution and is prearranged around 2 year duration diploma curriculums. A student can also get 4 or 5 year professional degree curriculum in precise areas.
The University of South Pacific financed globally is scattered all through Oceania and has a good status. Its Fiji campuses are situated on the islands of Kiribati and Lautoka.
