Family
The family structure of Uganda has greatly disoriented due to endless long wars. The country was devastated both in economy and & social structure by the ruthless regime of Idi Amin. A number of people were killed during his dictactorsip. There was a time only 15 year kids were found as the eldest male heads of a family.
Nowadays, the traditional extended joint family is very rare to find. The family is dominated by males, the female plays the submissive roles. However the kids are not brought up with proper guidance. The family has greatly shattered with adultery, single parent commonly practiced. However a number of social and voluntary organizations have plunged into the noble mission of restructuring the family life in Uganda. They have helped in sending the students to schools, and creating social awareness. Slowly the nation is being put on development track.
Food
The Ugandan food comprises of conventional cooking and has the influence Arab, English, Asian (particularly the Indian) cuisine styles. Most of the Ugandan foods are focused on peanuts stew or sauce or on meat.They also eat Yam, African sweet potato, Cassava, Soybean and Chapti.
Some of the other common meats greatly consumed by the Ugandans are fish, chicken, goat and beef. A maize flour called as Ugali is blended with water, is prepared into porridge and is given as breakfast to the kids.
Dress
Kanzu is the main Ugandan national dress for men. Women hailing from the eastern and central parts of the country wear costume, with sash fixed to their waists and big inflated shoulders known as Gomesi. The women living in the north western and western part of the nation cover with a lengthy cloth about the waist and shoulders known as Suuka. The southwestern Ugandan women wear tie and lengthy baggy skirt. The Ugandan women are also in the habit of wearing a floor lengthy costume known as basuti, which the nineteenth century missionaries introduce into the country.
Sports
The Ugandan people are sports loving people and some of the sports mostly widely played in the country are Football, Athletics, Cricket, Rugby, swimming, tennis, Golf, boxing and sailing.
