India's priciest movie Baahubali to hit UAE theatres today
Telugu-speaking Indian expatriates are set to make a beeline to cinemas in the UAE as India's most expensive motion picture ever hits the screens in their mother tongue today. Director SS Rajamouli's epic movie Baahubali's budget is said to be over 2.5 billion rupees, more than a billion rupees above the record-holding 2010 Tamil film Enthiran (Robot). Though movies generally release here on Thursdays, Baahubali's release was pushed to Friday to make it simultaneous with the grand global release across some 4,000 screens. Weekend shows in theatres across the UAE are almost fully booked and a huge rush is expected at the box office over the next few days, industry sources told Khaleej Times. The film, originally made in Telugu and Tamil, is releasing in Hindi and Malayalam in dubbed versions. However, the UAE cinemas are showing only the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions, with Telugu receiving the highest number of screens and shows primarily because majority of the cast and crew are from Tollywood. "This is the first time that a Telugu movie is receiving such a grand release in the UAE. It is also for the first time that we are going to see Telugu movies in some of the luxury cinemas here," said Murali Reddy, an ardent Telugu movie fan. Social media is abuzz with loyal fans of the director, hero Prabhas and the multiple star cast from Telugu and Tami industries posting tweets about their wait to see the movie. Meanwhile, fake reviews about the movie from the UAE also went viral online. The report from @Kiaara Sandhu who claims to be the editor in Indian Cinema Magazine UK & UAE, a box office expert, member of Dubai censor board and also a film distributor in the iddle East, has stated Baahubali is not worth watching. According to online reports, the Cosmopolitan India magazine had previously tweeted that @Kiaara Sandhu is a fake profile of a person who pretends to be a Cosmo staffer and copying their content.
