Media Scholarship for Muslim students at IMII

New Delhi: Here is good news for the students belonging to Muslim communities and who aspire to become journalist. The International Media Institute of India (IMII), in its noble initiative to support the interests of these groups, is offering full scholarship assistance for limited number of students. IMII, located in Noida near Delhi, offers an 11-month post-graduate diploma in multimedia journalism. The classes will start on 5th July 2010.
The amount of scholarship is up to Rs 50,000.

Eligibility criteria:
Candidate should be Muslim. The annual income of his/her parent should be less than Rs 10 lakh and minimum marks in Graduation must be 45% or up. However, preference will be given to the students coming from small towns and rural areas. Last date for application to avail the scholarship is 15 April 2010. The scholarship fund has been instituted by Dr. Najma Sultana, who was born near Hyderabad and practices medicine in the United States.

According to the institute’s website, students will learn to produce professional news stories for print, audio, video, web and mobile phone platforms. The faculty at IMII is drawn from top Indian and International journalists and the school is affiliated with the City University of New York’s path-breaking Graduate School of Journalism.
IMII is also offering Jane Louis scholarship for those bright and deserving Dalit, Tribal and Backward Class students who lack resources to undertake professional media education.
