Employed women looking for better opportunities
More than 5,000 job seekers vied for 700 jobs available at the “A step ahead†2015 female career fair organized by Glowork in partnership with the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) and HADAF, recently held in Dammam. Khalid Alkhudair, founder & CEO at Glowork & Glowfit, said on the sidelines of the fair that the greater percentage of attendees were currently employed females. He said at majority of job fairs organized by his company, the greater proportion of attendees are employees already on the job who seek better employment opportunities, and who participate in workshops and self- development courses. “The actual ratio of job seekers did not exceed 10 percent of the attendees,†he confirmed. He noted that the jobs available in “A step ahead†were offered by 80 companies operating in the industrial, real estate and retail fields. “The jobs were made available because these companies opened female divisions,†he said. He stressed the fact that the labor market in the country received 480,000 females which indicates the increasing awareness among society on the importance of women’s work, the increasing employment opportunities allowed for women, developing a suitable work environment for them, and investing in their training. He said the job fairs that the company organized last year employed more than 1,286 Saudi females. Commenting on the requirements for companies to participate in the fair he said: “The salaries offered should not be less than SR3,000 and the company should have actual job vacancies for women.†He said the companies which employ job seekers can recover their participation fees, in a step to encourage the company to continue with its offerings.
