Youth India Pravasi Sports 2010: Abbasiya Emerges Champions
Kuwait City: Youth India the youth wing of Kerala Islamic Group - KIG, conducted ‘sports -2010’ under the theme ‘sports for social causes’. Kaifan Amateur Athletic Stadium witnessed enthralling moments as all the zones of Youth India competed fiercely to stay on top, till Abbasiya zone romped home with the Winner’s trophy with 71 points. After a tough fight Fahaheel zone contended themselves with the runners cup with 64 points and Abu Halifa Zone secured the third spot.
The competitions were conducted with participants from all over kuwait organized as teams based on their respective areas, namely, Abbasiya, Farwaniya, Salmiya, Fahaheel, Abu Halifa and Kuwait City. Around 1000 athletes competed in the events. The ‘Sports 2010’ started off with a colorful march past by all the six teams participating in the competitions. Youth India President Khaleelurahman received the salute and sports convenor Shafi PT led the march past.
Abbasiya Zone Captain Saji Pappachan received the Winner’s trophy from KIG President Sakkeer Hussain Thuvvoor after winning the competitions held in Men, Sr. Boys, Jr. Boys and Sub Jr. Boys categories. Captain of Fahaheel Zone, Shaheer Ahamed received the runners up trophy from Apsara Mahmood and Abu Halifa Zone secured the cash prize for the most participants sponsored by Apsara Bazar.
Amal (Sub Jr. , Abbasiya), Vivek (Sr. Boys, Salmiya), Ashish ( Jr. Boys, Fahaheel ) secured individual championship in their respective divisions and Satheeshan and Manoj shared the individual Championship in the Mens division.
The competitions were conducted under the supervisions of Najeeb VS, Jose Master, Vinoy Master, Rafeeq Babu, Fasalul Haq, Abdurazaq Nadwi, Zubair KA, Shanavas, Hafees Ismail and Abdurahman K .
The results of the competitions and the fight for the top spot saw many eyes being permanently fixed on the projector screen. Anwar Sayeed, Rishdin Ameer and Mahsoom controlled the documentation. Dr. Robi Kurian and Dr. Ashraf provided first aid and volunteers under the leadership of Mohamed Saleem provided all the necessary support.
Bahrain Exchange MD and General Manager, Mr. E. D. Titus inaugurated the ‘Sports-2010’. Youth India General Secretary Noushad VV welcomed the athletes and Sports Convenor Sajid AC delivered the vote of thanks.
