Yeddyurappa informs Gadkari about resignation
New Delhi, July 31 (IANS) Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa Sunday morning formally intimated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari that he will resign from the post later in the day, party sources here said.
The chief minister will formally announce his resignation in the afternoon. He is likely to meet Governor H.R. Bhardwaj later in the day.
Lok Sabha member and former state president Sadananda Gowda, state party president K.S. Eshwarappa and Rural Development Minister Jagdish Shettar are some of the names making rounds for replacing Yeddyurappa.
Former party president Rajnath Singh and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley are presently in Bangalore to finalise the leadership in the state.
Yedyurappa's resignation comes days after the Lokayukta report indicted him in the multi-crore mining scam in the state.
