Will win, but not by huge margin: Vayalar Ravi

Thiruvananthapuram, May 13 (IANS) The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) would win in Kerala but not by a "huge margin", union Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi said Friday.

"We will win. We will form the government. But it will not be by a huge margin. My expectation is 80 (votes), it may go down," Vayalar Ravi told NDTV news channel.

Although the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala was a corrupt one, the UDF could not "cash in much" on it, the Kerala MP admitted.

"The LDF government is a corrupt government. And the corruption is not just at the ministerial level, but has gone down to the party cadre level too. But yes we could not cash in on it as much as we expected," Vayalar Ravi said.

Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) were Friday neck and neck in the race for power in the state, early trends for the 140 seats showed.

Candidates of the LDF, led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), were ahead of the UDF as officials counted the millions of votes polled to pick a new 140-member assembly.
