Will keep watch on fast venue, say Delhi Police

New Delhi, June 4 (IANS) Stating that it granted the permission to organise a 'Yoga Shivir' (camp) at Ramilia Ground, Delhi Police Saturday said they will be keeping a close watch on the law and order situation at the site as thousands of supporters have assembled there to join the yoga guru in his fast against corruption.

"Be it fast or yoga shivir, we will watch the situation until there is no law and order problem. We will go by the government's directions on the issue,” Special Commissioner of Police Dharmendra Kumar told IANS.

A galaxy of people early Saturday assembled at the Ramlila Ground on the cusp of the old and new Delhi as Baba Ramdev went ahead with his fast against corruption and black money stashed abroad in foreign banks.

"We have deployed personnel from the reserve forces, and there are adequate security arrangements,” added Kumar.

Ramdev was given permission by Delhi Police to organise a yoga camp for 20 days with a maximum strength of 7,000 participants, confirmed Kumar.
