WikiLeaks exposes Mayawati's corrupt ways: BJP
Lucknow, Sep 5 (IANS) Accusing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of institutionalising corruption in the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Monday said a cable leaked by WikiLeaks only "exposes the corrupt face and dual standards" of her regime.
Citing a cable released recently by WikiLeaks about Mayawati, Naqvi claimed: "According to the disclosure, at the behest of the chief minister, a chartered plane flew to Mumbai from Lucknow just to get a pair of preferred sandals for her (Mayawati).
"Around Rs.10 lakh were spent for bringing the sandals that cost about Rs.1,000," he said.
"The cable has once again brought the corrupt face of Mayawati and her government before the public. It's shocking and surprising... It all shows the way public funds are being misused," Naqvi said at a press conference here.
