Chennai, June 29 (IANS) Journalist and television anchor A. William Rabi Bernard will be the AIADMK candidate for the July 22 Rajya Sabha by-election, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa said Wednesday.

 
 The vacancy arose as AIADMK Rajya Sabha member K.V. Ramalingam was elected to the Tamil Nadu assembly and became a minister.

 The AIADMK-led front won 203 of 234 seats in the May assembly election.
 The AIADMK itself won 150 seats,
 
 In Tamil Nadu, the support of around 33 legislators is necessary to get elected to the Rajya Sabha.
