Sushma, Jayalalithaa discuss attacks on Indian fishermen
Chennai, June 25 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party leader and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj Saturday called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and discussed the issue of attacks on Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.
Speaking to the reporters here after the 30-minute meeting, Sushma Swaraj said her party would raise the issue in parliament.
She said she had also asked Jayalalithaa for copies of the resolution passed by the state assembly on imposition of economic sanctions on the island nation and the retrieval of Katchathivu ceded to Sri Lanka in 1974.
On Friday's hike in fuel prices, Sushma Swaraj said it would hit housewives and farmers.
She charged the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government with betraying the interests of the common man.
