Sun TV official sent to two-day police custody
Chennai, July 5 (IANS) A Chennai court here Tuesday remanded Sun TV Network official Hans Raj Saxena to two days in police custody.
Saxena was arrested by city police Sunday on charges of cheating and intimidating film distributor T.S.Selvaraj.
The police have been directed to bring him before the court July 7.
Saxena is the chief operating officer of Sun Pictures - the movie production and distribution wing of the listed company Sun TV - promoted by Kalanithi Maran, the grand-nephew of DMK president and former chief minister M.Karunanidhi.
Film distributor Selvaraj had complained that Saxena had cheated him of around Rs.8 million and threatened him when he asked for the money in connection with the distribution of Tamil movie "Theerada Vilayattu Pillai".
The Sun TV Monday said it is studying the first information report (FIR) filed against Saxena and is taking necessary legal recourse.
Saxena was also in the news recently in connection with an attack on a three-star hotel here.
Though a police complaint was lodged against him then, he was not taken into custody.
