In the third set of the mixed doubles tie breaker, Spain triumphed over Australia with a 2-1 win at the Hopman cup held at Burswood Dome. The Spanish mixed pair Fernando Verdasco and Anabel Medina Garrigues beat their mixed doubles opponent pair, Lleyton Hewitt and Jarmila Gajdosova.

As per the norms of the Hop man cup, the tiebreaker in a mixed doubles match decides the win. The side which manages to win a set apiece emerges the victor.

Previously in the hard court held at indoors, Australia’s Gajdosova beat her Spanish opponent Medina Garrigues 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, that facilitated Australia to have a 1-0 lead.

Spain retaliated with its player Verdasco beating his Australian opponent Hewitt in 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, by breaking his serve in the closing game, and leveling his country at 1-1 with Australia.
