Retired banker found murdered in Kanpur
Kanpur, April 16 (IANS) A 65-year-old retired banker who used to live alone was found with his throat slit at his residence in this Uttar Pradesh city, police said Saturday adding the assailants may have been known to him.
P.N. Dwivedi, who retired as special officer with UCO Bank, was found lying in a pool of blood by his servant Friday night in Qidwai Nagar locality.
Dwivedi lived alone in the house. His daughter is posted in Unnao while his son is in Noida.
"We are yet to ascertain the motive behind the crime. We have ruled out the loot angle as cash and other valuables were found intact inside the lockers," police inspector Ravendra Singh told reporters in Kanpur, some 80 km from Lucknow.
"It appears the attackers searched for some documents or some other thing as clothes inside the cupboards and almirahs were found scattered.
"It appears some insiders or people known to Dwivedi could be involved in the killing," said Singh.
