Procedures for getting employment visa (iqama)
The following are the procedures that are adopted for getting employment visa/iqama.
1. What is an employment visa?
An employment visa is a visa that allows an expatriate to work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on a Saudi Citizen or Saudi Company’s sponsorhip. This visa normally takes from a minimum of 14 days to 60 days to get from the embassy. The documents required for applying comprise of PCC ( Police Clearance Certificate), medical checkup, and attestation for all the documents (degrees & certificates). The visa should be got from the nation of citizenship and has a validity of three months. 2. What is an Iqama?
Iqama is a residence permit provided to expatriates who land in KSA with an employment visa. The iqama is applicable for a duration 1 to 2 years. 3. What are the benefits of obtaining iqama?
4. What are the Documents required for obtaining an employment visa (iqama)?
a) Duly filled visa application form ( this will be offered by the employer or you can visit the website of the Saudi embassy in your home country and download the application). b) Original passport and should be valid for the employment contract’s duration and it should have atleast 2 successive blank pages. c) 3 color passport photograph of the applicant d) Employment letter copy which should bear the signature of both the employee as well as the employer (sponsor). e) Letter from the sponsor (normally the employer) that is authorized by the Saudi Chamber of Commerce as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.The letter should also mention the visa number and the date , and also the name of applicant & the job title. f) Degree or Diploma certificate that is obtained by the applicant which should be duly endorsed & notorized by the related in the home nation as well as the embassy or consulate of Saudi Arabia present in that nation. g) 3 copies of medical report (with 3 passport photographs) which should be received by the applicant endorsing that he is not having HIV virus or any other infectious diseases. The report should be given by a physician from a clinic that is approved by the Saudi Embassy in that nation within 3 months of applying. Each copies of the medical report should bear the physician’s signature, his name, address, and his liencse number. h) A detailed police report that is issued within 6 months of the application stating that the applicant is without or free from criminal charges. i) Number of the Employment visa’ notification applied by the sponsor From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Saudi Arabia and the issue date j) Fees for the application which must be paid by the employer (sponsor). All the above mentioned documents must be submitted directly to the Saudi Embassy located in the home country to get the employment visa/iqama. The appication procedure would be even faster if you go through a agency nominated by the employer The duration to get your employment visa will take from a few days to upto 8 weeks
