Police probe Bihar legislator's role in murder
Patna, July 11 (IANS) Police Monday began probing the role of Bihar's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Asha Sinha in a murder case after her vehicle was found used by nine men arrested for the daylight killing, police said Monday.
On Saturday morning, three bike-borne assailants killed Harish Paswan. Nine men were arrested for the murder after they were found in a Scorpio -- owned by Asha Sinha, a legislator from Danapur near Patna.
According to police, the assailants used the legislator's vehicle after changing the original number plate.
"It is not proper to say anything until her role is verified in the case," said Harpreet Kaur, a probationer Indian Police Service officer.
Paswan's mother Uma Devi accused the legislator of conniving with the accused to murder her son.
However, Sinha denied having any role in the murder. "I was preparing to go to a wedding party in Khagaul when the driver left with the vehicle without informing me," she said.
Sinha's husband Satya Narayan Sinha was killed in 2004.
