Police listing suspects in Chennai boy's killing
Chennai, July 5 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Police said Tuesday that they are making a list of people who could have shot dead a 13-year-old boy inside the army campus here Sunday.
"We are listing out the suspects and the list will be given to the army. We are looking at all the angles and are yet to get a clinching evidence," R. Sekar, assistant director general of police (ADGP) at Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID), told IANS.
Sekar also denied reports that the CB-CID is interrogating around six army personnel.
"We won't say we have secured anybody. We are yet to get the ballistic test report to ascertain the kind of weapon that was used," he said.
On Sunday afternoon, K. Dilshan and his friends trespassed into the army residential quarters to pluck almonds.
The boys were shot at and Dilshan was fatally wounded.
Dilshan's autopsy confirmed that his death was caused by bullet injuries and he must have been shot at from a close range.
The police have sent the bullet seized from the spot for ballistic tests to ascertain its make.
Meanwhile, the army Tuesday reaffirmed that "no guilty person will be shielded".
In a statement issued here, the army said it is providing full assistance to the CB-CID.
All the army personnel in the area and the civilian security guard on duty in the compound were made available for investigations, the statement added.
