Now, online, on-time salaries for Mumbai teachers
Mumbai, Oct 5 (IANS) Come Nov 1 and Mumbai's 30,500 teaching and non-teaching staff of government-aided schools would get salaries directly credited to their accounts.
As a Dussehra gift, the Maharashtra government has decided to make online and timely payment of salaries.
"Presently, the salaries are credited through co-operative banks which used to roll the funds and consequently delayed the payments for up to 10 days every month," Shikshan Bharati chief Kapil Patil told IANS Wednesday.
Initially, the scheme is being made applicable only in Mumbai. Gradually, it would be implemented in other parts of the state for the benefit of another 670,000 teachers and non-teaching staff, he said.
Minister of State for Education Rajendra Darda in the monsoon session of the legislature had made the promise following persistent demands by Patil for online payment of salaries.
Besides getting their salaries on time, Patil said teachers can avail other benefits of core banking, ATM card, and an accident insurance cover of Rs.200,000.
