Nairobi National Park

[The Nairobi National Park established in the year 1946. It is Kenya’s primary park and is situated nearly at a distance of 4miles (7 kms) from the Nairobi’s hub area. The park is spread on an area of 28,963 acres (117.21 square kilometers). It is tiny in area, when compared to a majority of National parks of Africa. The park is a secluded portion of the Athi-Kapiti plains. The Mbagathi River borders southern side of the park. Fencing is not done on this side, and is left open to the Kitengela Conservation Area (situated directly to the park’s south side).

The Diverse residents

You will see the animals in the wild, in the beautiful Savannahs. Some of the residents to welcome you are the baboon, African buffalo, Burchell's zebra, black rhinoceros, Coke's hartebeest, cheetah, hippopotamus, Grant's gazelle, lion, leopard, eland, Thomson's gazelle, Masai giraffe, impala, vulture, ostrich, and waterbuck. You can have a tête-à-tête with the much famed resident, the black rhinos.

Make sure you visit the park during the day season, as the concentration of wildlife is immense during the arid season. This is because the region outside the park gets parched. The animals from the Kitengela conservation area and the Athi-Kapiti plains comes in search of water to the man made tiny dams constructed alongside the Mbagathi River. You will get a spectacular view of the different wild animals having a communal meeting at the water body.
