New Delhi, June 27 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Monday issued a bailable warrant against a Mumbai-based woman who allegedly emotionally blackmailed her on-line chat partner, employed in an MNC in Gurgaon, after he refused to marry her.

 
 When the proceedings on the MNC employees' petition started, Justice Suresh Kait asked why the woman did not appear in court despite being issued summons.
 
 Taking note of the submission made by Nikhil (name withheld and changed at his request) that he sent the court order by e-mail, Justice Kait said: “In spite of receiving the message, the woman, a research associate with IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), Mumbai, is not present, therefore the court issues her bailable warrant of Rs.10,000 to ensure her presence on the next date of hearing.”
 
 The case next would be heard July 4.
 
 Nikhil, an IIT- Kanpur graduate at present working as an engineer with a multinational firm in Gurgaon, alleged that the woman subjected him to emotional blackmail, which forced him to move the court for protection.
 
 Justice Kait told Nikhil to pay for her Mumbai-Delhi trip, and directed him to send e-ticket to her for air travel.
 
 “In case the woman wishes to come prior to the date fixed, the petitioner shall arrange an accommodation in a three-star hotel in the vicinity of the court,” said the judge.
 
 “If she will be accompanied by someone, whose ticket fare should also be reimbursed by the petitioner,” the court directed.
 
 Nikhil told the court that he befriended the girl, a Ph.D. in Physics from Allahabad University, on internet last August and began chatting with her. The duration of the chat gradually grew longer and often ended late into the night.
 
 He said as the friendship grew, she insisted upon meeting him and came over to Delhi last November. "After meeting me, she began pressing for marriage with me despite being at least five to six years older to me," 25-year-old Nikhil told the court.
 
 He said that as he refused to marry her, she began sending him threatening mails and SMSes, saying she would commit suicide if he did not marry her.
 
 He urged the court that the girl be directed not to subject him to emotional blackmail.
