Ministers again to urge Ramdev to call off fast plan

New Delhi, June 3 (IANS) Senior union ministers will make a last-ditch effort to persuade the hugely popular yoga guru Baba Ramdev to call off his proposed hunger strike at a meeting with him here Friday after earlier talks failed.

According to a spokesperson of Ramdev, the ministers will meet him to discuss his demands, which include bringing the corrupt to book and measures to bring back black money stashed abroad.

"Senior UPA ministers are likely to meet Baba Ramdev for the next round of talks," a spokesperson of Ramdev told IANS.

They had failed to persuade him Tuesday and Ramdev is adamant on starting his fast Saturday at the Ramlila Ground in Delhi.

As the government feared a repeat of a mass movement on the lines of that by social activist Anna Hazare or one even bigger, the Congress core committee under chief Sonia Gandhi met at the Prime Minister's House, 7 Race Course Road, Tuesday to find urgent ways to address the issue.
