Media trying to create DMK-Congress rift: Karunanidhi
Chennai, June 13 (IANS) A section of media is interested in creating a rift between the DMK and the Congress, DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M.Karunanidhi said Monday.
In a letter to the party cadres, Karunanidhi noted that at the June 10 press meet he addressed here, 22 of the total 31 questions asked by the reporters were on the relations between his party and the Congress.
Karunanidhi addressed the media after chairing a meeting the party's high-powered committee at the party headquarters here.
He alleged that about five to six reporters seated at different places raised such questions intended to drive a wedge in the relations between the two parties. They wanted a comment from him so that they could blow up the issues in their papers but he remained silent, he added.
Regretting that there were no questions on the resolutions passed by the party that day, Karunanidhi wondered why the media was suddenly showing such interest and urgency in the ties between the two parties.
