Maran continues to occupy minister's seat

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) DMK member Dayanidhi Maran, who quit as textiles minister last month over his alleged role in the 2G spectrum row, continues to occupy the minister's seat in the Lok Sabha which was allotted to him when he held the post.

Maran, who was in the house when Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee replied to the debate on price rise, was initially seen seated with other DMK members.

But when Speaker Meira Kumar called for a division to decide the fate of an amendment moved by Communist Party of India member Gurudas Dasgupta to a motion that expressed concern over inflation, Maran rushed to his allotted seat in the third row of the treasury benches right behind where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sits.

Normally, after a minister has quit, he is allotted another seat. But a decision on his new seating arrangement seems yet to be taken.
