Maoists condemn Ramlila Ground action, question Ramdev's assets
Ranchi, June 10 (IANS) A banned Maoist outfit Friday condemned the police action against protesters at the Ramlila Ground in New Delhi, but questioned the huge assets amassed by yoga guru Baba Ramdev.
"We condemn the police action against the people sitting on satyagrah (sit-in strike)," said a press release issued to a section of media by the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist.
The press release has been issued by Simdega sub-zonal committee of the Maoists in Chhattisgarh.
The statement termed Ramdev as a capitalist and anti-poor. It questioned the assets amassed by the yoga guru's various companies.
Ramdev Thursday declared assets of his companies to be worth more than Rs.1,100 crore.
"How could such huge amount of money be amassed without snatching the rights of the common people?" the statement asked.
Ramdev, whose who continued his fast against corruption for the seventh day Friday, was taken to a Dehradun hospital for check-up after his health deteriorated.
He has been on fast since Saturday demanding that the black money deposited in foreign banks be brought back to India.
