Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait celebrated Onam-Eid
Kuwait: Kozhikode District Association celebrated Onam-Eid at Integrated School, Abbasiya on 14 October 2011. His Excellency Mr. Satish C Mehta, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. During the inaugural address the ambassador emphasized the importance of festivals like Onam and Eid in enriching the Indian culture. He also highlighted the various services made available by Indian embassy to address the grievances of expatriate Indian population in Kuwait.
Association President Rajagopalan Edavalath presided over the function. General Convenor Abdul Najeeb.T.K., welcomed the gathering. General Secretary Rishi Jacob presented a review on the activities of the Association. Eid message was given by Hameed Keloth while Sreeja Santhakumar gave Onam message. Shabeer Mandoly, Malayil Moosakoya and Sharafudheen Kanneth offered felicitations. Ashraf Aydeed, Siddique Valiyakath, Santhakumar.M and Asma Abdulla were also present on the occasion. Abdulla Kollarath proposed vote of thanks at the end of inaugural function.
The event was conspicuous by the presence of prominent personalities in Kuwait that include Pancily Varkey, Varghese Puthukulangara, Ibrahim P.V, Kathy Thomas, Salim.K, Sajeev.C.K, A.M.Hassan, Samkutty Thomas, Siraj Eranhikkal, Hateeq.K, Reji Bhaskar, S.A.Labba, Baburaj V.V and Subair Parakkadavu.
Onappattu, mappilappattu, thiruvathirakkali, oppana, cinematic dance, folk dance, folk song, mimicry, kolkkali, film songs and various programmes for children were staged during the day long programme that provided a feast to the eyes and ears. Under the leadership of Sreenivasan.M, sumptuous onasadhya was served to around 1,000 persons who took part in the onam-eid celebrations. The entire event was marked by traditional gaiety and enthusiasm amongst all those who attended the function.
Biji Ramakrishnan compered the program. Beerankoya.K.T, Hassankoya.K, Shaji.K.V, Najeeb.P.V, Aboobacker.K, Ramakrishnan.M, Muneer Marackan, Shijith.K, Sakeer Hussain, Biju.P.V, Santhosh, O.M, Raju.S.Kandy, Moideen Koya, Sreenesh.S, Sasidharan Kovilery, Padmarajan.C, Thaha.K.V, Saveesh.K, Jayesh, Jayakrishnan.P, Muhammed Rafi, Gireesh Babu.K, Ragesh.P, Kareem, Basheer Ahamed, Madhusoodanan.V.V, Radhakrishnan.P and Siraj controlled the day long programmes. The event came to an end with vote of thanks by Anas Puthiyottil.
