Kidnapped woman rescued within hours, two arrested
New Delhi, July 24 (IANS) A 24-year-old woman, abducted by five men in south Delhi, was rescued within hours of her kidnapping and two of the kidnappers were arrested, police said Sunday.
The woman, identified as Mamta Sharma, was forcibly driven away in a car by a group of five men late Saturday near Ghitorni Metro station, a police officer told IANS.
"The incident was reported late Saturday night near Ghitorni Metro station," said a police official.
"Kartar Singh, 22 and his four friends came across Sharma and her three friends at Pigeon Bar in Gurgaon's Sahara Mall. Under the influence of alcohol, these five men approached these girls and misbehaved with them," the official said.
"The girls called a cab to take them back to Badarpur. Their cab was intercepted by Kartar and his friends near Ghitorni Metro station, where they kidnapped Sharma," added the officer.
"On receiving the information at 3.30 a.m., police swung into action and rescued the women and nabbed two of the kidnappers while three managed to flee," added the officer.
Kartar Singh was among the two arrested from Aya Nagar in south Delhi, while the other was identified as Pramod Kumar, 22.
"It was the cab driver who had informed police about the kidnapping. We will arrest the other three very soon," said the officer.
