Kidnapped boy rescued, two arrested
New Delhi, April 18 (IANS) A four-year-old boy, kidnapped from Uttar Pradesh last week, has been rescued and his two abductors arrested, police said Monday.
"The kidnappers - Mazhar, 30, and Nadeem, 25 - were arrested from Jagatpuri area in east Delhi Sunday," said Deputy Commissioner of Police O.P. Mishra.
Police received a tip-off that two kidnappers, who have kidnapped a minor boy from Bulandshahr town, were hiding in Shastri Park area in east Delhi and were looking for a new place to hide in Jagatpuri area till they got the Rs.6 lakh ransom they had demanded.
A trap was laid and Nadeem arrested, said Mishra. Based on information from him, a raid was carried out at their Shastri Park hideout, Mazhar arrested and the boy rescued, said Mishra.
During interrogation, the duo told police that they kidnapped the child April 14 night with the help of his uncle Chand after drugging his parents.
Nadeem, a resident of Bulandshahr, was also involved in kidnapping for ransom in 2006.
"He had kidnapped an 8-year-old child in Mustafabad in Uttar Pradesh and was later arrested. While he was facing trial in prison he came in contact with Mazhar, a thief, from Katihar in Bihar," added Mishra.
