Kerala re-poll ends, police guard voting machines
Thiruvananthapuram, April 16 (IANS) The re-polling at two booths in Kerala concluded Saturday and over 11,000 Kerala police personnel kept a vigil on 20,875 electronic voting machines (EVMs) used in the assembly poll earlier this week, officials said.
The re-poll at a booth each in Chalakudy and Pattambi assembly constituencies got over at 5 p.m., election officials said.
It was ordered after complaints of irregularities during Wednesday's polling in 140 constituencies, they said.
The EVMs, kept at 63 centres in 14 districts, would be used for counting of votes May 13.
Apart from police, a special flying squad of the election department would also monitor the centres where the EVMS were kept, they said.
