Kerala nun's death: Police question 50 people
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 18 (IANS) More than 50 people were questioned in Kerala in connection with the death of a nun in a water tank at a convent where she resided near here, police said Thursday.
People questioned so far were those with whom the victim used to interact, police said Thursday.
According to police theories, either the nun slipped and fell into the tank or entered the tank with the aim of killing herself.
Sister Mary Ancy, 45, was found dead Wednesday at the Holy Spiritual Centre, located near the famed tourist destination of Kovalam.
Her body was discovered by the inmates of the convent, where Ancy lived with eight other nuns.
The preliminary autopsy report said the victim was conscious at the time of the drowning and also ruled out sexual assault on her.
Police are awaiting the detailed autopsy and the forensic reports, expected to be out in the coming days, to arrive at a conclusion.
Ancy was a school teacher at the school run by her convent for the past nearly two decades.
Police were also investigating on the nagging allergy that Ancy was suffering from for the past one week and the resultant depression she was suffering from.
The last rites of Ancy were conducted in the presence of her family members at her convent in the afternoon.
