KANNUR KKMCC conducts
Iftar Party & 64th Indian National Day

Kannur District Committee of Kuwait-Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre has conducted Annual  Iftar Program and celebrated 64th Indian Independence day on 21st August at ECHO Restaurant in Farwaniya.  Sayid Nasir Thangal (Chairman) inaugurated the event.  He added that in Ramzan,  through increased devotion, Muslims feel closer to their Creator, ALLAHU subahanu wataala and recognize that everything  we have in this life is a blessing from HIM.  He praised Kannur committee of  KKMCC by standing today humbled by the task of doing relief and social works and at the same time expressing gratefulness  for the trust the people have bestowed them.

Abdul Mohsin Al-Sadi, from Ministry of Justice, Kuwait  was the Chief guest.  He said that through family and community gatherings, Muslims strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood, in their own communities and throughout the world.  He is delighted to see KKMCC has taken this initiative while spreading the spirit of love among different communities in Kuwait.  He prayed “May Allah accept our fasting, forgive our sins, and guide us all to the Straight Path. May Allah bless us all during Ramadan, and throughout the year, with His forgiveness, mercy, and peace, and bring us all closer to Him and to each other”.

Ghalib Al-Mashoor in his presidential address said that KKMCC is proud to celebrate India’s 64th National day (15th August  2010) and conveyed belated greetings to the members.  He added that “The prosperity of today”,  India is  witnessing are the fruit of the struggles made for the past 63 years, where  people of India worked very hard  and sincere. Majority of Indians  love  democratic system, and India’s model secularism and their disciplined works.  It has not been the path for the faint-hearted, but those who prefer work over leisure, or seek only hardships over the pleasures of riches and fame.  Al-Mashoor added that India’  long  rugged path towards prosperity and freedom cannot be destroyed by terrorism elements and fundamentalism, rather we prefer to respect the old risk-takers’ of our  nation such as Mahatma Gandhi, Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, DR. P.J. Abdul Kalam.  Our journey has never been one of the shortcuts or settling for less. 

He added that Islam, the religion of 1.6 billion global Muslims  taught us to love against hate and peace against war while sacrificing their own lives for the motherland.  In Islam its part of the belief that one should defend his nation being as Martyr.  Al-Mashoor recalled that all of us here packed up our belongings with little worldly possessions while saluting to our nearest kin, dears and friends  and traveled across oceans in search of a new life in Kuwait , We  lived in Kuwait either for less than one year or in between or more than 35 years.  But we cherish our love towards our nation and remember our Nation’s Independence day all the time. 

Al-Mashoor expressed  gratitude to UPA Government  for their recent issuance of postal stamps in honor of our beloved leader Marhoom:  Panakkad sayid Mohamed Ali Shihab Thangal on the occasion of  Thangal’s first death anniversary.   KKMCC treats  “the stamp issuance event” as a great honor  for Indian Union  Muslim League Party as one of the leading political parties in India , in addition to Marhoom Thangal’s  sincere  services to the nation.  KKMCC evaluates this gesture  as a “Token of Appreciation” for India’s 160  million Muslims by the presentruling members of UPA backed  Government.

Sharafuddeen Kanneth, President National Council said that we are proud to see those moments where we cherished our love , independence and  freedom from British rule.  We achieved this historical event  by means of  different ways of struggles and tactics by our national Leaders.   India’s National day remembers  minding of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors and at the same time Leaders of IUML such as:  Qaede Millath Marhoom  Ismail Saheb, Marhoom Seethi sahib, Marhoom Bafaky Thangal, Marhoom Panakkad Pookoya Thangal, Marhoom Banatwala and Marhoom Sayid Mohamed Ali Shihab Thangal.   He added that while KKMCC Kannur committee is hosting the Iftar and Independence day party here in Kuwait,  H.E. E. Ahamed sahib, the Kannur Born Leader and President  of INDIAN UNION MUSLIM LEAGUE  who is the present Minister of Railways also hosting an Iftar Party in New Delhi for Man Mohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and other leaders.

Representatives from various Indian Associations in Kuwait, also attended the function.  Mohamed Arimbra (KKIC) said in his key note address that , Ramadan is a period of fasting, reflection, devotion, generosity and sacrifice observed by Muslims around the world. While major holidays of other faiths have largely become commercialized events, Ramadan retains its intense spiritual meaning.  He added that Fasting has been found to be an effective treatment for psychological and emotional disorders. It helps a person to firm up his will, cultivate and refine his taste and manners, strengthen his conviction of doing good, avoid controversy, petulance and rashness, which all contribute towards a sane and healthy personality. 

Al-Haj M. Mohammed Meera Shah Fazil Baaqavi (President, Kuwait Tamil Islamic Society) said that Ramadan is a month of self-regulation and self-training, with the hope that this training will last beyond the end of Ramadan. If the lessons learned during Ramadan, whether in terms of dietary intake or righteousness, are carried on after Ramadan, it is beneficial for one’s entire life. There are psychological effects of fasting as well. There is a peace and tranquility for those who fast during the month of Ramadan. Personal hostility is at a minimum, and the crime rate decreases. Also, the Recitation of the Quran not only produces a tranquility of heart and mind, but improves the memory.

Senior Members and Leaders of KKMCC National Council  Aziz Thikkodi, Salam Valanchery,  Osman Darimi (Vice President, ISLAMIC CENTRE),  Siddeeque Valiyakath (President, F I M A) also delivered felicitation speeches. Ibrahim Mir Khan (President, IMWA) who arrived late, also made compliments to KKMCC for conducting such a wonderful program.  They all added while saying that During Ramzan  through increased charity, Muslims develop feelings of generosity and good-will toward others. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once said, "A man's wealth is never diminished by charity." Through self-control, a Muslim practices good manners, good speech, and good habits. Through changing routines, Muslims have a chance to establish more healthy lifestyle habits -- particularly with regards to diet and smoking.
The speakers thanked H.H. Shaikh Sabah Ahmed Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait, Government  and people of Kuwait for  treating Indians as the best community and prayed for Kuwait’s prosperity and security.  The meeting started with recitation of Holy Quran byNasir Ariyil.   Haider K.C., General Secretary  welcomed the guests . Dinner was served. A huge crowd was present for Iftar party.
