Chennai, June 19 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Sunday said development of infrastructure and industrialisation alone do not drive growth, but growth has to be inclusive.

 
 Thanking the people for electing her from the Srirangam constituency, around 330 km from here, in the recent assembly elections, she said: "Development of infrastructure and industrialisation alone are not the path for growth. Growth should be inclusive."
 
 She said her government is implementing welfare measures so that the growth is inclusive and the aim is to eradicate poverty.
 
 Jayalalithaa said the former DMK government's welfare schemes were basically faulty and benefited only the party, not the people.
 
 "Our government's schemes will benefit the people," she assured.
 
 According to her, the AIADMK government's free rice scheme provides the much need food security for the poor.
 
 Jayalalithaa also said she was shocked to see the financial mess that the DMK government had created and "…it is a challenge for me to set it right."
 
 The chief minister announced various schemes with an outlay of around Rs.190 crore for the improvement of her constituency.
 
 Jayalalithaa announced construction of a guest house for tourists, upgradation of power sub-stations, hospitals, schools, a check dam across the river Cauvery, setting up of horticulture college for women, improving facilities at the primary health centres, double laning of roads, construction of bridges and others.
 
 Earlier in the day she offered prayers at the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple and presented a five-seater battery-operated car for the benefit of old and disabled people who come there.
 
 Jayalalithaa was elected to the 234 member state assembly from Srirangam by a margin of over 41,000 votes.
