New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS) Work must go on: That was the message the Delhi High Court sent out Wednesday as it went back to work a few hours after a high-intensity blast at one of its gates killed 11 people and left 76 injured.


Following the powerful blast at 10.15 a.m. at Gate No.5 where around 300 people were gathered, the court functioning was suspended.

The Delhi Police cordoned off the court premises and none of the litigants and lawyers were allowed to enter the premises till 2 p.m.

Secretary of the Delhi High Court Bar Association D.K. Sharma said that work must go on and work was resumed in the afternoon.

"We are functioning normally so that a clear message should go to the public at large that we are not bogged down by the terror attack," said Sharma.

"It is the only the symbolic hearing that is happening in the courts. I hope that the government should learn some lesson on the beef of the security outside the court premises," he said.

The High Court Bar Association also passed three resolutions at a meeting -- on deployment of security men in plain clothes, installation of CCTV cameras, and equipping security personnel with high-tech gadgets.

“The proceedings of the court were resumed to give alternate dates for the hearing of the cases of appellants, who came all across Delhi,” said Sugriv Dubey.

“We want to send a clear message to all the miscreants that we are undeterred by their handiwork. The court will functional normally,” he said.
