Introspect, don't blame others, Jayalalithaa to Karunanidhi

Chennai, April 30 (IANS) Reiterating her demand of charge sheeting  all members of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi’s family in the 2G spectrum allotment case, AIADMK chief J.Jayalalithaa Saturday urged him to introspect than blaming others.

In a statement issued here, Jayalalithaa said: "The Rs.1,76,000 crore spectrum scam is very real. (former communications minister A.) Raja is very much involved in it. Kanimozhi, Kalaignar TV and the entire Karunanidhi family, including Karunanidhi himself, have derived benefit from it not only here but in the form of pay-offs in tax havens abroad as well. It would be better if Karunanidhi, instead of pushing the blame on to all and sundry, does some serious introspection."

Terming Karunanidhi’s strong defence of his daughter Kanimozhi charge sheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the 2G scam case as "convoluted", Jayalalithaa said Karunanidhi denied the scam "decrying it as virtually a figment of the imagination of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India".

"He has sought to blame the developments in the Supreme Court-directed investigation as part of an upper-caste conspiracy against his brand of Dravidian politics. I will not attribute his ramblings to senility. This is vintage Karunanidhi. When cornered, throw muck all round and send everyone scurrying for cover, while he seeks an escape route! No specific names are mentioned,” Jayalalithaa said.

She said the CBI filed the case on the instructions of the central government of which DMK is a part.

The case after hibernating for over a year, gathered momentum because the Supreme Court pulled up the CBI, she said.

Jayalalithaa wondered how Karunanidhi’s second wife M.K. Dayalu and Kanimozhi got money for taking 60 percent and 20 percent stakes respectively in Kalaignar TV and how much money they had invested in the channel.
