Immigration firm owners booked for fraud
Chandigarh, May 28 (IANS) Three people, including a husband-wife couple, running an immigration firm have been booked for duping a Punjab resident of Rs.500,000 on the pretext of sending him abroad, police said Saturday.
The couple, Dayal Inder Singh and his wife Gagandeep Kaur, had promised Rashpal Singh, resident of Bassi Pathana town in Fatehgarh Sahib district, to send him to Canada and had taken Rs.500,000 from him last month.
"We have Saturday booked three people on the charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy in this case. They neither sent Rashpal abroad nor returned his money," a police official said, adding the third accused was Pargat Singh, a partner in the firm.
"We will make arrests in this case very soon," the official added.
